Crusoe, which builds data centers and runs a GPU cloud for AI training and inference, raised the two largest rounds in this guide: a $1.375 billion Series E in October 2025 at an expected valuation of more than $10 billion, and a $3.9 billion Series F in September 2026 at a $30.9 billion post-money valuation. The company was founded in Colorado and is based in Denver.

The next largest went to True Anomaly, a Centennial company that builds autonomous spacecraft for space defense, Denver kidney care company Strive Health and Boulder drug discovery company Enveda. Most of the other rounds in this guide were between $8 million and $65 million, raised by AI companies working in health care, construction, security, education and enterprise software.

This guide covers notable rounds raised in 2025 and 2026 by AI companies headquartered in Denver, Boulder and the nearby suburbs, the investors who backed them, and the research labs, accelerators and state rules that shape the local market.

Large Colorado rounds that are not AI companies

Several of the biggest Colorado financings of the period came from aerospace companies that do not build AI products, so they are not in the lists above. Boom Supersonic raised $300 million in December 2025, partly to build a natural gas turbine line that will power AI data centers, with Crusoe as its launch customer. Louisville’s Sierra Space raised a $550 million Series C at an $8 billion valuation in March 2026. Denver’s Voyager Technologies listed on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2025.

Palantir Technologies moved its headquarters from Denver to Aventura, Florida, in February 2026, after six years in Denver.

Who invests in Denver and Boulder AI startups

Most of the large rounds above were led by firms from outside Colorado, including Valor Equity Partners, Mubadala Capital, Atreides Management, Accel, Eclipse, Riot Ventures, Catalio Capital Management, Premji Invest, NEA and Kleiner Perkins. Several of the Colorado firms below invest mainly at pre-seed and seed.

  • Foundry Group in Boulder said in January 2024 that its 2022 fund would be its last. It is still investing from that fund.
  • Range Ventures is a Denver pre-seed and seed fund. Its focus areas include vertical AI and AI infrastructure and tooling.
  • Matchstick Ventures invests at pre-seed and seed in Colorado and Minnesota.
  • Access Venture Partners invests at seed and Series A in software, cybersecurity and marketplaces.
  • Boulder Ventures invests in information technology and life sciences companies.
  • Colorado Impact Fund in Denver invests from late seed to growth stage.
  • Stout Street Capital backs pre-seed and seed deep tech companies in fields such as aerospace, biotech, energy and quantum computing.
  • Blackhorn Ventures invested in LightTable’s Series A.

Research labs, accelerators and state rules

The federal lab in Golden formerly called the National Renewable Energy Laboratory was renamed the National Laboratory of the Rockies on December 1, 2025. Venture Partners at CU Boulder is the university’s office for licensing research and helping faculty start companies.

Techstars Boulder is back after a pause, now run as a locally owned partnership with Techstars as an investor. Its first new cohort started on September 8, 2026, with Demo Day scheduled for December 7, 2026. The state’s Advanced Industries Accelerator program gives grants of up to $250,000 to companies commercializing technology and up to $150,000 for proof-of-concept work at Colorado universities and federal labs.

In 2024 Colorado became the first US state to pass a law broadly regulating high-risk AI systems, but that law never took effect. On May 14, 2026, Governor Jared Polis signed SB26-189, which repealed it and replaced it with a narrower law on automated decision-making tools used for decisions such as hiring, lending, insurance and health care. The new law is set to take effect on January 1, 2027. xAI’s court challenge to the earlier law is still pending, and a ruling could affect enforcement.
